The Philippine Bar Association (PBA) in cooperation with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines held a legal forum that focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The legal forum was entitled “AI and The Law” and it was held at the University of the Philippines Bonifacio Global City Auditorium last 26 July 2024. It was attended by more than 100 lawyers consisting of private law practitioners and lawyers from different government agencies. Some attendees were also based outside Metro Manila. Participants earned Mandatory Continuing Legal Education units by attending the legal forum without any fee for registration.
Prof. Senando Angelo R. Santiago gave an introductory lecture on AI entitled “Artificial Intelligence Essentials for Lawyers”. This was a useful talk to prepare the participants for the lecture Prof. Darwin P. Angeles’ entitled “Ethical and Legal Considerations of Generative AI Creations on the Philippine Copyright Landscape”.
The PBA Trustees and Officers also attended the forum. PBA Trustee and Corporate Secretary Atty. Arnel Victor C. Valeña led the prayer while PBA Trustee and Treasurer Atty. Chrysilla Carissa P. Bautista gave the welcome remarks. She is currently a PBA Trustee and the Treasurer. Atty. Joel Raymond R. Ayson concluded the event with his closing remarks.
