In her brief message to the guests, PBA members, advisers, trustees and officers, during the induction of the incoming trustees and officers of the PBA in March 2026, the incoming President, Rachelle Aileen Santos, called upon the new trustees and officers to recognize that they are custodians of a legacy. To honor that legacy, however, is not to remain anchored in the past. It is to understand its values and carry them forward in ways that respond meaningfully to a changing profession. Each incoming trustee and officers was challenged to remain relevant, informed, innovative, and engaged.
The Guest of Honor and the Inducting officer, Dean Gwen Grecia de Vera, College of Law, University of the Philippines, added particular significance to the induction and in her speech highlighted the valuable relationship between the PBA and the law school.
The collaboration between the PBA and the law school can help bridge the worlds of legal education and legal practice thus creating opportunities for continuing legal education, mentorship, research, professional development, technology and ethics discussions, and meaningful engagement between students, faculty, and practitioners.
