On 12 November 2022, the Philippine Bar Association (“PBA”) conducted a seminar entitled “Usaping Lupa”. The PBA sought to provide a forum to discuss common land titling problems of the residents of Barangay Bagalangit, Mabini, Batangas. In cooperation with Barangay Captain Joe Ilagan, the PBA conducted this lecture.

The lecture on the basics of land titling and registration was given by PBA Trustee and Assistant Corporate Secretary Attorney Arnel Victor C. Valeña.

The PBA also invited Attorney Dion Rex A. Africa as resource speaker. Atty. Africa is the Registrar of Deeds II of the Office of the Register of Deeds of North Nueva Ecjia-Talavera, Nueva Ecija and Acting Registrar of Deeds of San Jose City, Nueva Ecija.

The informative session was attended by over 30 residents who came prepared with questions, documents, and survey maps. Atty. Valeña’s discussion was followed by a lively open forum where Atty. Africa exhaustively answered the questions of the participants.

Present at the seminar were PBA President Rodelle B. Bolante and Trustees Ernestine Carmen Jo Villareal-Fernando, Victor M. Pangilinan, and Chrysilla Carissa P. Bautista, and PBA Past Presidents Rodel A. Cruz and Fina Bernadette C. Tantuico.  Other PBA members were also present including Salvador L. Peña, Jose Martin R. Tensuan, and Maria Vinina Bonita A.
