Mr. Molo specializes in Constitutional litigation, complex commercial disputes, arbitration, public utilities, competition law, and regulatory reform.
Mr. Molo holds landmark Supreme Court victories that include establishing new doctrine in Intellectual Property; removing barriers to foreign participation in the domestic construction industry (2019); reforming the country’s Party-list System (as co-counsel with former Associate Justice VV Mendoza); and nullifying the legislative Pork Barrel (PDAF). He successfully enforced a $25 million Arbitral Award against a local conglomerate and in 2019, won an International Arbitration against the Republic of the Philippines with a value in dispute of upwards $1.5 Billion.
He takes on public interest cases in defense of civil rights and Constitutional principles. He is presently involved in the advice and defense of journalist Maria Ressa and her fellow journalists including a Press Freedom Case before the Philippine Supreme Court. He was counsel for former Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio and former Justice and Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales when they challenged the constitutionality of the Anti
Terror Act of 2020 before the Philippine Supreme Court. He is presently counsel for the Senate of the Republic of the Philippines, its officers and individual Senators, in a Petition before the High Court regarding the Legislature’s power to investigate in aid of legislation.
Mr. Molo was cited by the Philippine Supreme Court for his “expertise, competence and invaluable service” and, was chosen as a Member of the High Court’s Expert Panel on the Revised Rules of Civil Procedure. He has been recognized several times as one of the Top 100 Lawyers of the Philippines by Asia Business Journal – initially listed at 36 years old, the youngest at that time. He regularly speaks in conferences and, has upon invitation of the government, conducted training seminars for frontline agencies and new regulators. The Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA) invited him to join its Curriculum Review Focus Group (2015).
Mr. Molo is a Founder and, former Director of the Angara Centre, a privately-funded think-tank composed of international scholars that has brought to the Philippines Nobel-prize winning professors and experts to speak on matters affecting the national interest. He is a former law clerk under the Office of Justice Antonio T. Carpio, and worked in the Office of the late Senator Edgardo J. Angara on key economic legislation including the Real Estate Investment Trust Act (REIT).
He Chairs the Constitutional Law Committee of the Philippine Bar Association and is a Past President of the Harvard Law School Association of the Philippines. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines’ Journal and was a member of the Editorial Board of the Harvard Asia Pacific Review.
