Fina Bernadette A. de la Cuesta-Tantuico
Fina Bernadette A. de la Cuesta-Tantuico has been practicing law for 32 years. Her fields of practice include Family Law, Litigation, and Corporate Law. She has handled various cases involving declaration of nullity of marriage, custody of minors, legal adoption of minors, violence against women and children, separation of property of spouses, legal separation and guardianship. She is also currently the Corporate Secretary and Legal Counsel of the Magellan Group of Companies (F & J Holdings, Inc., a listed company; Magellan Capital Holdings, Inc.; and subsidiaries), and Pointwest Technologies Corporation.
Ms. de la Cuesta-Tantuico was a Partner of De la Cuesta De las Alas & Tantuico from 2000 to 2020. She was the Corporate Secretary & General Counsel of the Philippine Telegraph & Telephone Company, a listed company (PT&T), and Republic Telecoms Corporation from 2005 to 2018. She was a Member of the Legal Panel of the Presidential Fact-Finding Commission on the Protection of Overseas Filipinos (the “Gancayco Commission”) of the Office of the President, and Judicial Staff Head and Private Secretary of the Office of Associate Justice Ameurfina Melencio-Herrera of the Supreme Court of the Philippines. She was the President of the Philippine Bar Association and the University of the Philippines Women Lawyers’ Circle.
Ms. de la Cuesta-Tantuico obtained her Bachelor Arts, Major in English Literature, from the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of the Philippines, graduating cum laude. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the College of Law of the same university. She also completed the Program Instruction for Lawyers of Harvard University Law School, and the Cours de Langue et de Civilization Francaises of Universite Paris- Sorbonne, Paris IV. She is currently a Senior Lecturer on Persons and Family Relations, Legal Profession, and Legal Bibliography at College of Law of the University of the Philippines, where she serves as Special Assistant to the Dean for Alumni Affairs. She is also a Professorial Lecturer on Legal Ethics, Legal Philosophy, and Communication Skills for Lawyers at the College of Law of the Lyceum of the Philippines.
